Ying-kit Chan was a research fellow at the International Institute for Asian Studies, Leiden University. He held visiting scholarships at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University, the Center for Chinese Studies, National Central Library (Taipei), and the University of Brunei Darussalam.
