Comments Policy

East Asia Forum welcomes comments, both for adding depth to analysis and for bringing up important new issues. Original comments adding insight and contributing to analysis are especially encouraged. The editors retain the right to refuse and edit comments at any time.

If you would like to contribute to the discussion please:

  • Use a valid and verifiable postal address, email address and name when posting a comment. Your email and postal address will not be published but may be used by the editors to contact you. If we are unable to verify your identity, we will not publish your comment. EAF’s audience should be able to trust that you are who you say you are and our legal protocols require this information.
  • Ensure your comments are relevant, accurate, constructive and written to engage with the substance of the article. Below are some guidelines regarding content, as it will not be accepted where, in the opinion of the editors, it:
    • Is illegal
    • Encourages or incites violence
    • Threatens, harasses, or bullies or encourages others to do so
    • Contains personal or confidential information
    • Impersonates someone
    • Is misleading or deceptive
    • Causes offence
    • Uses inappropriate language, and/or
    • Is a personal attack on the authors of posts or other comments
  • Those posting comments bear the sole responsibility to ensure their contributions are
    not defamatory and do not infringe copyright laws or breach the law in any way.
  • All comments represent the views of the individual posting them and are not in any way endorsed by the editors or the East Asia Forum.
