Shin Kawashima is Professor of International Relations at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo. He is the Executive Director of Research of Nakasone Peace Institute(NPI) and senior fellow of the Japanese National Security Secretariat. He holds a PhD from the University of Tokyo. He taught at Hokkaido University's Department of Politics, Faculty of Law from 1998 to 2006 before moving to the University of Tokyo in 2006.
