Professor Nicholas Farrelly is a Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Tasmania, where he was previously Head of Social Sciences. Farrelly specialises in the analysis of political conflict and social change in mainland Southeast Asia, with a long-term focus on Myanmar and Thailand. He was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford and founder of New Mandala, a leading platform in Southeast Asian Studies. Farrelly previously held key roles at the Australian National University, including as founding Director of the ANU Myanmar Research Centre. He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
