Kim Richard Nossal was educated in Melbourne, Beijing, Toronto and Hong Kong. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto and taught international relations at McMaster University (1976–2001) and Queen’s University (2001-2020). He served as president of the Canadian Political Science Association in 2005–2006 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2019. He is the author of a number of works on Canadian foreign and defence policy. In 2023, he published Canada Alone: Navigating the Post-American World (Dundurn, 2023).
