Eko Sumando is PhD (in economics) candidate at Crawford School of Public Policy, The Australian National University. He completed his master’s degree in economics at Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia) and The Australian National University.

Before pursuing his Ph.D., he worked as an analyst for the Indonesian Ministry of Finance. In 2019, the Indonesian Minister of Finance awarded him an Outstanding Employee of the Year for his work in government cash management. Eko is interested in topics related to local government, public finance, and impact evaluation of government policy.
