Amita Batra is Professor of Economics and former chairperson of the Centre for South Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Batra was senior visiting fellow at the Department of Political Economy, School of Social and Political Science, University of Sydney in 2018. Batra served as a member of the Finance track Advisory Group for G20 for the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, January 2022-December 2023. Batra was an honorary member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Advanced Trade Research of the Trade Promotion Council of India. Her most recent book is titled 'India’s Trade Policy in the 21st Century', 2022, published by Routledge: London. Batra received her Master of Arts, Master of Philosophy and PhD in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics
