Aurelia George Mulgan is Conjoint Professor at the University of New South Wales, Canberra, and has a distinguished academic record in Japanese politics. Graduating from Auckland University and earning an MA at Victoria University of Wellington, she later completed a PhD at the ANU after graduate studies as a Monbusho Scholar at Osaka University of Foreign Studies and Tokyo University. Recognised with prestigious awards, including the J.G. Crawford Award, Ohira Memorial Prize and Toshiba Prize, she has had extensive international experience, including a Harvard University Fellowship, Japan Foundation Fellowship and Abe Fellowship. George Mulgan is a leading expert in Japanese politics, political economy, foreign and defence policies, as evident in numerous publications and multiple Australian Research Council Discovery Project grants.
