Peer reviewed analysis from world leading experts
East Asia Forum (EAF) is a platform dedicated to publishing accessible analysis on Asia, from Asia. EAF articles feature policy analysis and comment on politics, economics, business, law, security, international relations and society. Our focus on issues particular to the Asia Pacific region ensures that light is shed on events that might not usually get mainstream coverage.
EAF consists of an online publication and a quarterly magazine, East Asia Forum Quarterly, which provide clear and original analysis from the leading minds in the region and beyond. EAF creates space for local and international perspectives and allows new names to be displayed alongside some of the biggest authors in thought leadership.
Based out of the Crawford School of Public Policy within the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University, EAF is the academic research network of the East Asian Bureau of Economic Research (EABER). Shiro Armstrong and Peter Drysdale run the publication alongside an editorial board and editing team.
EAF is catalogued and archived by the National Library of Australia. Our articles are regularly placed in the Australian Financial Review and frequently referenced and cross-posted in publications such as The Economist, South China Morning Post, Time Magazine and the BBC.
We post two articles daily. A weekly lead article is published every Sunday evening, and a Digest is sent to subscribers every Monday morning. As part of our commitment to reliable and accurate coverage, every EAF article is double-blind peer reviewed and fact checked.
The views expressed in this forum are those of the individual authors and do not represent the views of the ANU, EABER or the institutions to which the authors are attached. To get in touch or contribute to EAF, please contact the editors.
As a freely accessible resource for the region, East Asia Forum relies on donations from those who believe in its importance.
